Austin shared the court documents on her Instagram page with the caption, “Enough is enough!!!” The writ of summons was filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.
According to the court documents, Austin is seeking ₦1 billion in general damages for alleged defamation. She is also asking the court to order Edochie to publish a full and unreserved retraction and apology in at least two widely circulated national newspapers and on all her social media platforms.
Austin is further seeking a perpetual injunction restraining Edochie, her agents and associates from publishing or circulating further statements allegedly defamatory of her.
She is also asking the court to direct Edochie to take down all alleged defamatory statements made against her on online platforms.
In addition, Austin is demanding ₦50 million as the cost of prosecuting the suit, alongside 10 per cent post-judgment interest on any monetary award from the date of judgment until final payment.
The lawsuit comes amid the long-running controversy surrounding Austin, Edochie and actor Yul Edochie, with Rita Edochie having previously made several public comments concerning the actress and her relationship with Yul.
With the latest legal action, the dispute appears to have moved from social media exchanges to the courtroom.
